Whew!  In the hustle and bustle of Christmas–we can easily overlook unexpected guests who pop by.  So I always whip up something extra for those unannounced holiday guests.   This year—its simply wrapped bits of dark chocolate morsels by the fine folks of PURE DARK.  Pure Dark makes some to the best dark chocolate I’ve ever eaten!  With dark brown tissue paper, some red ribbon and ornamental berries—-who could resist!  Yummy!

Merry Christmas everyone and God bless!

Diary of a Designer: Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop Week # 5 Box Decor

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

This weeks project is a die-cut from Brenda Pinnick and when I first saw these little brackets using her new collection of fabric, I knew immediately what I wanted to make. As always, I kept this project really simple by layering and sewing the pieces together to create an unexpected box top! Now if you don’t sew, gluing the pieces together is okay too!

P.S. These little brackets would make great adornments to aprons, bags, pillows and more! Oh and be sure to click on the button on the left to follow the blog tour!

Here’s what I did:
I used one of Brenda’s flower cuts from week # 3 and stitched it onto the smallest bracket then randomly stitched the small bracket to the large bracket. I traced the large bracket onto some scrap yellow fabric and cut a 1/4″ allowance. I then layered the yellow piece under the large bracket and used a decorative stitch pattern around the edges. For the center, I ripped a 1/2″ wide and 12″ long fabric strip then coiled and twisted the fabric into a mini flower, gluing it randomly with every other coil. Next I centered the flower onto the die-cut flower and secured the entire piece to a box! What fun. This project will take about 20 to 30 minutes to finish if you sew it, probably less if you glue it!

Diary of a Designer: Sizzix Tripleplay week # 5 Mom’s Placecard

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

Thanks for hopping by!  It’s week 5 of the blog hop and I just adore any project made for mom!  I used Karen Burneson’s “for you” die-cut and added some more flower die-cuts to embellish.  This was again, another simple project using colored markers, torn fabric (at the bottom), paper, glue dots and little ribbon.

Here’s another view against my adirondack chair however, if the wind is blowing, I wouldn’t recomment using the placecard outside .  It’s just too cute to be blown away!

Be sure to check out all the other designer projects to by simply clicking ont the button to the left.

Have a great day with your mom!
