Valentine’s Day is soon approaching! And of course flowers play a big roll on this special day so I thought I’d give you a head start on some creative ideas on how to “doll up” your flower arrangements! Above is a floral design I created using crimped and twisted wire. This so easy to do and —wow—does it spice things up for what might otherwise be just another bundle of flowers. This is a great way to make a memorable gift and the wire can be recycled again for the next arrangement! I love that!
It doesn’t get any easier than this simple little flower. This time I shaped the crimped wire into mini flower and then attached some small pearls to add even more depth. Now you can wear this as a corsage or use it as an accessory for your table decor!
Maybe you know someone who’s getting married on Valentine’s Day and wouldn’t this make a romantic touch for a boutonniere! Take it one step further by using artificial flowers and turn this into a gift box topper! On this little cutie, I spiraled the wire at the bottom and to the left I wrapped the the wire around a small dowel then added some beads!

I love a treasure hunt and just wanted to share some of my favorite flea market finds. The little chair is from around late 1800′s or early 1900′s and one of my fav’s. The cake stand was about a $1.00, the pitcher about $2.00 (which has a matching flower pot not shown), the plates are a collection from various garage sales, the wooden stair rail that will eventually be used as a candle holder….. and the flower vase was a cha-ching moment!

Hosting a dinner party is one of my favorite things to do and I always like to kick it up notch (or two) to make my food presentation memorable. And boy did I get some nice compliments!

I started out with a focal point for my buffet table with an Italian piece of pottery in the form of a chicken. I nestled it in the back, placed it on a cake stand and filled it with greenery and some freshly cut sunflowers.

I pulled the colors from the pottery into my bread basket and table runner then propped a plate on a plate stand to balance out the table backdrop. Using lifts and layers helped with the balance of the table decor. Food placement also needs to be thought out as well. The salad, dressing and tomatoes were grouped together on the left side of the table. And speaking of dressings–instead of setting out the bottled dressings—I poured them into two small Delft Blue coffee and tea containers (each had it’s own little lattle). On the opposite side–the hot food such as ribs, twice baked potatoes, bread and BBQ sauces were grouped together. Again rather than setting out a bottle of BBQ sauce–I poured it into a small vintage pitcher to make it easy to pour.

To add a bit of whimsy and playfulness—I made some last minute napkin holders before my guests arrived. This was a simple project using Duetica Piper fonts on card-stock. I really didn’t think my guest wouldn’t say too much about this simple project but the guests got a big kick out the idea and after dinner they collected them all to be reused. You know sometimes it’s the simplest little things that can make a party memorable! And here’s my hostess tip. I rarely use napkins and in place I use small hand towels. They don’t need to be ironed and can be thrown right into the wash—making my life so much easier!

Looking out my big back porch has me thinking I need to add a little bit of pattern and yellow into my kitchen eating area!

Looking from my porch to the inside you’ll my long English pine table–an awesome antique/flea market find I bought for about $150 –years ago. So with a little color inspiration from the outside—me thinks it’s time for a little kitchen detox with some new paint (or something!)….stay tuned!

So your husband calls you up to say we have a party to go to “tonight”. It’s 5 pm and you need a hostess gift and oh by the way—–hubby forgot the name of the wife of his buddy who’s hosting the party.
Well here’s a simple and fast way to wow your hostess (even if you don’t know her name) with a quick and simple customized label (even if you don’t know her name).

I always like to keep an “emergency” bottle of nice wine for a hostess gift just in case we get a last minute invite. So all I did was use Duetica’s Mandolyn font system—and jazzed up the “H” in hostess for a eye catching label any “H”ostess would love. Then to top it off, I adhered some pretty ribbons to give it a finished look!

And now I have a wonderful gift I’m sure she won’t forget (even if it’s just another bottle of wine).

We’ve all seen them in the department stores…but here’s an elegant spin on wine glass charms! To add some “charm” to this glass—I dug through my glass beads and other embellishments. And instead of attaching it to the base of the glass–I opted to secure it near the top! I hope you like this as much as I do!
